Who we are

In 1999 a group of Clay family researchers formed the Clay Family Gathering to help researchers gain further knowledge of the Clay Family. At our first group meeting in Williamsburg, Va. in 2001 it was decided to form a Clay Family Society to band together for further research of Clay, Claye, Klee, del la Cley, all spelling variant of the name world wide. You are all invited to join with us to share your family and perhaps help close the link to and from our individual branches of the Clay family. We are always looking for those pieces of the puzzle that might help tell us where our ancestors came from.

What we do

Our goal has been to join forces to research, learn, teach and preserve the history of the Clay Families world wide, for ours and future generations. We invite you to become an active part of this web site, share your family and your photos, tell us your stories, lets become acquainted though our history, maybe we can help someone else get through their brick walls. Once you begin finding cousins, you will be amazed at what you find.

As an organization we meet every other year to share research, visit historical Clay family sites, cemeteries, research facilities, libraries any place we can gain a better knowledge of our families, where and how they lived and those connected to them through marriages, business or neighbors. Through these pages we hope to bring you a little insight that may give you a clue where to look next for your family.  We invite you to join us, let us know about your family, where they lived, what they did, where they are buried.
